You spoke, we’ve listened – results are in from our national survey

Last month, we sent out an annual national survey to all of our Eco-Schools. The results are now back in and they make for very interesting reading.

We enjoyed going through all of the feedback, suggestions and comments and will be using the survey as a basis for improving our programme over the coming year. So a big thank you to everyone who took the time to fill it out.

One of the most interesting aspects was which Eco-Schools topics schools are currently focussing on. Here are the top 5 from the findings:

  1. School Grounds
  2. Waste
  3. Litter
  4. Energy
  5. Biodiversity

Another area we found both promising and fascinating was around the skills development seen in young people taking part in Eco-Schools. A whopping 95% of responses said they saw an improvement in Teamwork skills of young people, 90% saw improvements in Innovation and Creativity and 87% believed the programme improved their students’ Critical Thinking skills.

In terms of cost savings, there was amazing feedback which showed that from those surveyed, an average of £3,364 was saved on energy bills in the past year alone.

And it was very clear that our schools highly value the resources available through The Pod, support from their Local Authorities and the power the programme gives for making real, tangible changes within a school.

A huge thank you once again to all of those who gave their thoughts. Watch this space for further developments to our programme off the back of your excellent suggestions.
