Takeover Tuesday
Each Tuesday throughout November, the Eco-Schools team will be handing over control of our social media channels to participating young people. ‘Takeover Tuesdays’ will see pupils raising awareness, showing us the different ways that they’re cutting their carbon, and expressing their views on climate change. You can find us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Let Pupils Post
Every Tuesday throughout Cut You Carbon month, we’re encouraging you to allow pupil takeovers of your school’s social media feed too. This will amplify their voice and provide them with a platform to demonstrate how and why they’re cutting carbon… they might even learn some digital skills in the process! Connect your Eco-Committee with your school’s social media lead to give them a platform. You can use the free social media infographics that you receive upon sign-up to the campaign, or pupils can decide to design their own. Don’t forget to tag @EcoSchools and use #CutYourCarbon!
Social Media Challenge
Throughout the month, we’re also posing a question to young people across the country – ‘Why is it important for us all to cut our carbon?’ We encourage young people to film their response and schools to post these on their social media accounts tagging @EcoSchools and using #CutYourCarbon. They might even do this as part of their Pupil Takeover Tuesday. At the end of the campaign, the Eco-Schools team will collate a selection of these responses to create a Cut Your Carbon video, which we will share across our communication channels.
