WHO REALLY CARES? Nationwide search launches to find ‘16 Under 16’ Champions For Change
Our partners at David Luke have just launched a nationwide search, to find the UK’s most influential ’16 under 16 champions for change’ in the fight against plastic waste and other sustainability issues.
Inspired to act following a step-change in awareness of the environmental damage caused by plastic waste, David Luke Schoolwear, the UK’s leading manufacturer of eco-schoolwear, is on a mission to seek out sixteen young champions of change operating in local communities across the UK. Working in collaboration with us, eye-catching posters will be issued to schools and uniform retailers across the UK to encourage pupils to share their stories.
“We’d like to hear from young people who are really making a difference with their eco-inspired actions,” says Kathryn Shuttleworth, Managing Director of David Luke Schoolwear.
“We see 16 under 16 as a platform for the next generation to share their stories and inspire others to engage in issues that are important to them. Maybe one of your pupils has started a blog about an environmental issue or has campaigned to reduce the use of plastic in your school. You might know a champion litter picker that loves to keep your local park or beach clean.
Pioneering ‘Kids Against Plastic’ founders Amy and Ella Meek are joining to help spread the word, by offering unique insights into the world of youth social action through their own tireless campaigning. They will also join the judging panel, alongside Eco-Schools, to give a peer-to-peer voice in the final selection of the 16.
Once assembled, the 16 will come together at a Festival of Inspiration where they will receive mentoring and support from a host of influential speakers. Whatever their eco passion, please encourage your students to share their story at http://www.davidluke.com/16under16 from 14 May 2018.
