You’re never too young to be an environmentalist! Taking action to protect our planet can start at any age. ‘Eco-Schools: Early Years’ is our strand of Eco-Schools designed specifically for the littlest of learners and nursery practitioners. Check out the video and read on to learn more!
Updated Seven Steps
We’ve taken the Eco-Schools seven steps and given them an early years update. Edits to our framework ensure that all children participate, sustainable changes can be introduced across your nursery, and eco-learning is pitched at an appropriate level. Check out a more detailed explanation of each by clicking the link.
The Seven StepsShaped by Experts
To ensure the programme works for nurseries, we’ve collaborated with the Bright Horizons, Storal, and Childbase Partnership nursery chains. We’ve also enlisted the expertise of Early Sustainability expert, Dr. Diane Boyd. Their expertise has helped us to create a framework and set of resources that will help nurseries to become greener and cleaner place for everyone who visits.
Early Years Practitioner Training
Thanks to our collaboration with the Bupa Foundation, we’re offering free Eco-Schools: Early Years’ training for nursery practitioners. Starting in October, training will empower early years educators to cover climate change and sustainability with their children, through delivery of the Eco-Schools programme. It will also help to understand which areas of a nursery create carbon emissions and how these emissions can be addressed.
Book Your Spot! The Eco-Schools Green Flag
You can register with the Eco-Schools programme today, before starting the programme for 2024-25 in September. ‘Opening an application’ is free and gives you access to our framework and resources. Nurseries that complete the programme have the option to apply for our internationally recognised sustainability award, the Eco-Schools Green Flag. This is the only element of our programme that carries a fee (£200+vat) and flying your flag shows the world that your nursery is looking after our planet!
Register Today!Information for Schools
